One Hundred Twenty-Four Filings · Fragment 70

The Column Names the Reporter

A hundred and twenty-four large-shareholding documents in one week. The index's securities-code column is filled eleven times, and every time it holds the reporter's own code.

On 14 August 2026, Nippon Densetsu Kogyo (1950) filed a 変更報告書 — a variation report on a large shareholding. The company it reports on is Daido Signal (6743). EDINET's list carries a securities-code column for that row, and the code in it is 1950.

Mitsui Chemicals (4183) filed one on 14 August about Fukuvi Chemical Industry (7871). The column reads 4183. Mitsubishi Corporation (8058) filed a 変更報告書(短期大量譲渡) about Toyo Tire (5105). The column reads 8058.

The column is the filer's. On a form whose entire subject is somebody else's shares, the code that appears is the code of whoever is doing the reporting — when they have one.

Most of them do not. Between 14 and 19 August 2026 EDINET's list carried 124 documents of this type, from 79 filers, concerning 104 companies. The code column is filled on eleven rows and empty on 113.

The eleven rows come from six filers, each of them listed in its own right: Nippon Densetsu Kogyo, Mitsui Chemicals, Mitsubishi Corporation, Digital Garage (4819), Seika (8061), and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (8306), which accounts for six of the eleven on its own.

Set against that, 119 of the 124 documents concern a company that has a securities code of its own. Those codes are in EDINET's own company table; they are not in this column of this list.

The pattern follows the shape of the row. Every row of the list describes a filing, and the code column describes the filer of it. On an annual report the filer and the subject are the same company, so the column names the subject too. On a large-shareholding report they are different parties, and the column keeps naming the filer.

Reviewing the schedule is itself an item on the schedule.

What kind of party files them, by EDINET's own classification of the filer and counted by document: 52 come from domestic corporations that do not themselves file securities reports, 32 from foreign corporations, 20 from individuals and 15 from domestic corporations that do file. Five come from filers absent from the company table. Counted by filer rather than by document, those groups are 28, 17, 19, 10 and 5 — 79 in all.

Nineteen individuals filed twenty of the documents; eighteen filed once and one filed twice. None of those twenty rows carries a code.

The 124 divide by form as well. Ninety-one are 変更報告書. Sixteen are 変更報告書(特例対象株券等) and eight 大量保有報告書(特例対象株券等), the special-exception forms. Five are plain 大量保有報告書, first reports rather than changes. Four are 変更報告書(短期大量譲渡).

The twenty-four special-exception filings come from eight filers. Nomura Securities filed seven, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group six, JP Morgan Asset Management five and Neuberger Berman two; Macquarie Bank, SPARX Asset Management, J.P. Morgan Securities plc and Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities filed one each.

Nomura Securities filed fifteen documents of all kinds, the most of any filer. Evo Fund and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group filed six each; Oasis Management Company, Long Corridor Asset Management and JP Morgan Asset Management five each.

They arrived across four dates: 23 on 14 August, 40 on the 17th, 31 on the 18th and 30 on the 19th.

The document is about one company. The code in the column belongs to the other one.

So a reader who searches this list by securities code finds large-shareholding documents only when the reporter is listed. The other 113 rows span every filer classification in the set — domestic corporations with and without a reporting obligation, foreign corporations, individuals, and five parties the company table does not carry. One hundred and twelve of the 113 concern an issuer that has a securities code, and none of the 113 prints it.

On the counts. The 124 are the documents EDINET's list gives docTypeCode 350 with a submission timestamp between 14 and 19 August 2026, counted by distinct document ID from an index pulled on 23 August. The filer and issuer identifiers are the list's own edinetCode and issuerEdinetCode fields.

Filer classifications and issuer securities codes are read from EDINET's company table (EdinetcodeDlInfo.csv) by joining on those identifiers. Where a filer is absent from that table the classification is left blank rather than guessed; five are. EDINET prints securities codes as five characters, a four-digit code with a trailing zero — 19500, 41830, 80580 — in both the list's secCode field and the company table. This piece gives the conventional four digits throughout.

This piece uses no figure from inside any of the 124 documents. Large-shareholding reports print holding ratios and share counts; none of that appears here, and the counts above would be unchanged if it did not exist.

What this does not establish: whether a code column filled with the subject's code would be more useful. That is a question about how the list should be built, and this piece only reports how it is.

A hundred and twenty-four documents about other people's shares, and eleven codes, all of them the reporters' own.

What would change our mind

The claim is narrow: that EDINET's list carried 124 documents of docTypeCode 350 with submission timestamps between 14 and 19 August 2026, from 79 filers concerning 104 issuers; that the list's securities-code column is non-empty on eleven of those rows, that those eleven come from six filers and that each holds the filer's own code; and that 119 of the 124 concern an issuer that has a securities code in EDINET's company table. It is not a claim about anything printed inside the 124 documents, none of which were opened, nor about how the list ought to be built.
