Nexon's Average Salary Is 233 People's
The four figures in 【従業員の状況】 of Nexon's annual securities report for 2025 — 233 employees, average age 40.1, average tenure 8.1 years, average annual salary ¥9,104 thousand (US$55,580) — describe the filing company in Tokyo, 株式会社ネクソン, an operating holding company. The group it heads counted 9,834 employees at December 31, 2025, 8,342 of them in the Korea segment, and for them the report prints headcount by segment.

Item 5【従業員の状況】, the state of employees, in the annual securities report of NEXON Co., Ltd. for its 24th fiscal year, January to December 2025, filed on EDINET on March 24, 2026, fills one page — page 17 of 204. It carries two tables and two short passages. The second table prints the four figures a reader abroad usually wants first: 233 employees, an average age of 40.1, an average length of service of 8.1 years, and an average annual salary of 9,104 千円 — ¥9,104 thousand, or US$55,580 at ¥163.8 to the dollar. The heading over that table is (2) 提出会社の状況, the state of the filing company, and the heading is the answer to the question of whose numbers these are.
The filing company is 株式会社ネクソン, the Tokyo company listed under securities code 3659, and the report describes it in 3【事業の内容】, page 12, as 事業持株会社 — an operating holding company — which distributes PC online and mobile games in Japan and manages the group's affiliated companies. As of December 31, 2025 the group consisted of that company, 36 consolidated subsidiaries and 13 associates and joint ventures accounted for by the equity method (page 8). The parent's own 売上高 for 2025 was ¥6,427 million (US$39.2 million), in the 提出会社 indicator table on page 4; the group's consolidated 売上収益 was ¥475,102 million (US$2,900.5 million), on page 2. The salary, age and tenure figures belong to the staff of the first of those two entities.
The first table on page 17, (1) 連結会社の状況, counts the group by reporting segment, which for Nexon is a list of places. As of December 31, 2025: 日本 233 (23), 韓国 8,342 (208), 中国 184 (2), 北米 187 (4), その他 888 (6), 合計 9,834 (243). The Japan row prints the same 233 and 23 as the filing-company row beneath it; page 24 describes the consolidated subsidiaries other than the parent as 全て海外法人, all overseas corporations, which is consistent with the two rows being the same. The segment names are the ones the report uses throughout; page 8 says the その他 segment contains Europe and Asian countries.
Two notes under the consolidated table say what 従業員数 counts. Note 1: 従業員数は、当社グループから当社グループ外への出向者を除き、当社グループ外から当社グループへの出向者を含む就業人員数であります — the headcount is the number of persons at work, excluding those seconded from the group to companies outside it and including those seconded into the group from outside. Note 2: 臨時雇用者数(契約社員等)は、年間の平均人員を外数で記載しております — temporary staff, contract employees and the like, are shown in parentheses as an annual average and as 外数, a figure outside the main one. So 9,834 does not contain the 243, and 233 does not contain the 23.
The 提出会社 table is a single row under four headings: 従業員数(人) 233(23), 平均年齢(歳) 40.1, 平均勤続年数(年) 8.1, 平均年間給与(千円) 9,104. Its note repeats that the headcount is 就業人員数 and that temporary staff are an annual average shown 外数. The salary column is headed in thousands of yen, so the printed 9,104 is ¥9,104,000 (US$55,580); other large filers print the same column in yen, and a reader comparing across reports has to read the unit in the heading each time. Age and tenure are printed in the same row as the 233, and the row is the filing company's.
The report for the 23rd fiscal year, calendar 2024, filed on March 27, 2025, prints the same two tables on its own page 17. The filing company then had 238 (2) employees, an average age of 39.5, an average tenure of 7.7 years and an average annual salary of 7,256 千円 — ¥7,256 thousand, or US$44,300. The group counted 9,329 (185): 日本 238 (2), 韓国 7,962 (171), 中国 186 (0), 北米 186 (11), その他 757 (1). Set side by side, the parent's headcount went from 238 to 233 and its printed average salary from ¥7,256 thousand (US$44,300) to ¥9,104 thousand (US$55,580); the Korea segment went from 7,962 to 8,342 and the その他 segment from 757 to 888.
The 2024 report added a reason under each table. Under the consolidated table, note 3: 従業員数増加の主な理由は、韓国子会社における事業運営の強化によるものであります — the main reason for the increase in headcount was the strengthening of business operations at Korean subsidiaries. Under the parent table, note 2: 従業員数減少の主な理由は、自己都合退職によるものであります — the main reason for the decrease was resignations at employees' own request. The notes printed under the two tables in the 2025 report are the definitional ones quoted above.
The 主要な経営指標等の推移 tables at the front of the 2025 report carry headcount for five year-ends. Consolidated, page 2: 6,683, 7,467, 8,231, 9,329 and 9,834 for December 2021 through December 2025, with average temporary staff of 138, 357, 543, 185 and 243 in parentheses. Filing company, page 4: 270, 266, 266, 238 and 233, with temporary staff of 2, 3, 2, 2 and 23. The group figure rose at each of the four steps; the parent's fell at three and held at one. The parent's temporary-staff average, 2 or 3 in each of the four earlier years, is 23 in 2025.
The report names some of the companies behind the Korea segment's 8,342 in a different section. 2【主要な設備の状況】, page 45, tabulates the overseas subsidiaries' facilities with a 従業員数 column: NEXON Korea Corporation, in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, 4,154 (105); NEOPLE INC., in Jeju, 1,501 (27); NEXON Games Co., Ltd., in Seoul, 1,657 (51); and, in the その他 segment, Embark Studios AB in Stockholm, 325 (1). The parent's own row on page 44 lists its head office in Minato-ku, Tokyo, with 233 (23), and the note under that table defines the count the same way — 就業員数, temporary staff in parentheses as an annual average. Together the three Korean rows account for the greater part of the segment's 8,342.
4【関係会社の状況】, pages 15 and 16, gives the weight of those companies in the group's business. NEXON Korea Corporation, 100.0 percent owned, is described as providing PC online game licences to the parent, with 役員の兼任あり, shared officers; its 2025 売上収益 was ¥318,342 million (US$1,943.5 million), against the group's ¥475,102 million (US$2,900.5 million). NEOPLE INC., also 100.0 percent owned, had 売上収益 of ¥112,903 million (US$689.3 million). These are the companies whose employees are counted in the Korea segment's 8,342, and whose salaries are not in the filing company's ¥9,104 thousand (US$55,580).
In the 人的資本 passage of the sustainability section, page 24, the report gives its own measure of where the workforce sits. A note to the male parental-leave indicator says the indicator covers 当社及び当社グループの主要拠点である韓国所在の子会社 — the parent and the Korea-based subsidiaries — and that these together employed 88 percent of the group's total employees in the previous fiscal year and 87 percent in the current one, so that the figure is 連結ベースに近い, close to a consolidated basis. The indicators themselves: a gender ratio of 男性66%・女性34% in both 2024 and 2025; women as a share of management, 23 percent in 2024 and 22 percent in 2025; male employees' parental-leave take-up, 5 percent and 7 percent. A note defines 管理職 for the parent as line managers at leader grade and above, and for the subsidiaries, all of them overseas, as decided company by company. Item (4) on page 17 says the parent and its consolidated subsidiaries are not subject to the publication duties under the 女性活躍推進法 and the 育児・介護休業法 and 記載を省略 there; the ratios above appear on page 24.
(3) 労働組合の状況, on page 17, says no labour union is organised at the filing company, and that at NEXON Korea Corporation and some subsidiaries the 全国化学繊維食品産業労働組合ネクソン支部 is organised, affiliated with the 全国民主労働組合総連盟. The 2025 text says labour relations have been 概ね良好, generally good, but that strikes may occur owing to internal and external factors, and records that in the fiscal year a long strike took place at NEOPLE INC., a 孫会社, or second-tier subsidiary, and was settled by agreement on the company's proposal. The company adds that, as a provider of online game services, the effect of a strike is limited to the schedules of some new titles under development and that service is not interrupted. The 2024 report's version of the passage read 労使関係は良好であり、労働組合との間に特記すべき事項はありません — relations are good and there is nothing to note.
The risk section reads the workforce at group level. (4) ① 人的資源について, page 31, says that as the business expands and diversifies the group needs 人材の増強 — more people with creativity, technical skill, execution and management ability — that overseas subsidiaries play an important role, so their internal control and administrative staffing matter, and that delays in hiring or training, or the departure of core employees, could affect operations and results. ④ 特定人物への依存について, page 32, says the group's success depends on certain officers and employees, principal game developers among them. These passages speak of the group; the salary table speaks of the parent.
This desk retrieved both reports as PDFs through the EDINET document API — S100XSM4 for 2025 and S100VHMV for 2024 — read the two 従業員の状況 tables on each page 17 with pdfplumber's table extraction, keeping the whitespace so that cells stayed apart, and checked the five-year headcounts against the indicator tables at the front of each report. Page numbers are those printed on the PDF pages. The English name NEXON Co., Ltd. is the 提出者名(英字) in the EDINET code list. Yen are converted at ¥163.8 = US$1 for reference; no other figure is computed, and no group-wide salary is derived, because the reports print none in the pages read.
What would change our mind
The Japan-segment row and the filing-company row print the same 233 (23); page 24 describes the consolidated subsidiaries other than the parent as 全て海外法人, and page 8 defines the segments by each company's location, but the report does not itself print a sentence equating the Japan segment with the parent, so the equality of the two rows is read here as consistent with, not stated by, the filing. The notes under both tables on page 17, as extracted, define headcount and temporary staff; in the extracted text of that page this desk found no note describing what the 平均年間給与 figure comprises, so the salary is reported here under its printed label and nothing more, and a note on its composition elsewhere in the report would not be caught by a reading confined to page 17. The year-on-year figures are juxtapositions of printed values: the desk does not know why the parent's average salary reads ¥9,104 thousand (US$55,580) against ¥7,256 thousand (US$44,300), and the 2025 report's notes to the two tables, as extracted, give definitions rather than reasons. The 88 and 87 percent statement is the report's own, in a note to a single indicator on page 24, not a headcount table, and its denominator, 総従業員数, is the report's word.
